Frequently Asked Questions
What is a wildfire?   A wildfire is a fire that spreads fast and is hard to control, or an open fire which spreads unconstrained through the environment.

What is wildfire mitigation?   Wildfire mitigation is the process of reducing the potential impact of a wildfire. There are many aspects to mitigation, but it commonly includes thinning of forested areas, removal of debris and "slash," and creating zones around buildings and structures without trees or other flammable materials.

Where can I find out more about wildfire mitigation?   There are many sites on the internet with information. One site with an excellent glossary is: www.co.boulder.co.us/lu/wildfire/glossary.htm
